Kültürcü düşünüş

Kültürel bozulmaya, kültür şuursuzluğuna saygıdışılık hali diyoruz. Nedeni hem kendinden olmayana hoyratça yaklaşım, hem de kendi kültürüne yabancılaşma. Burada şöyle bir şey söylenebilir. Kültür şuurunu, kültürünü koruma maksimumda yabancı olana düşmanlığa değil kardeşlik ve evrenselliğe ulaşır. Ancak Akçaabat Ortamahalle veya Safranbolu evlerini gerçekten takdir eden kimse Rothenburg'un, Zlatá Ulička'nın anlamını kavrayabilir. 

Bunun tersi de geçerli... Burada kaybolan bir değer var ve bu beni ilgilendirmiyor. Aslında ben ilgisiz biriyim... Ama ben kültür şuurunu anlayabiliyorum, bunu takdir ediyorum, burada değerli olanı görebiliyorum. Maksimumda iyi ki dünyadaki bütün binalar aynı stilde değil, iyi ki farklı halk oyunları, mutfaklar, müzikler var, iyi ki yollarda sadece Ford'un arabaları dolaşmıyor, vesaire... 

Culture-focused thinking

We call cultural degradation and cultural unconsciousness a state of disrespect. The reason is both the rude approach to foreigners and the alienation from your own culture. At its maximum promoting cultural awareness achieves harmony and peace, not xenophobia. Only the one appreciates the houses of Akçaabat Ortamahalle or Safranbolu can understand the meaning of Rothenburg, Zlatá Ulička etc.

I can understand the cultural consciousness, I appreciate it, I can see what is valuable here. Fortunately, not all buildings in the world have the same style, fortunately there are different folk dances, cuisines, music, fortunately Ford cars are not the only ones on the roads, etc...

There is a strong relationship, a correlation between violence, crime rates, xenophobia and cultural shallowness. It all depends on what you occupy your mind with... A person who becomes a monster in traffic may turn into something else in the national library. Sometimes I freeze, I feel cold, my soul turns gray if I work in a bureaucratic structure, I cannot think clearly in ugly neighborhoods... That's why I try to escape, I try to go to places like Kuzguncuk. I am inspired by the Simitçi Tahir Street, I can breathe Ottoman style here, I thaw here, I become childish and cheerful.

Aşırı saygı üzerine

2004'te Marmaris'te Öğretmenler Günü programında Sabancı Lisesi korosu Onuncu Yıl Marşı'nı söylüyordu. Bu sırada çoğunluk ayağa kalktı ama emekli olduktan sonra Marmaris’e yerleşmiş olan 7. cumhurbaşkanı Kenan Evren marşı oturduğu yerden dinledi. Daha sonra salondakilere şunu söyledi:

“Ayağa kalkmadım çünkü Onuncu Yıl Marşı, İstiklal Marşı değildir, ayağa kalkılmaz".

Bunun üzerine biraz önce ayağa kalkanlardan bir kısmı dönüp Evren Paşa'yı alkışladı. Bunların bir kısmı az önce herkes kalktığı için ayağa kalkmış kişilerdi.

Bunu gerçek bir düşünüşümüzün bulunmayışına örnek olarak söylüyorum. Biz gerçekten düşünmüyoruz, çoğunlukla uyum sağlıyoruz. Bunun için de hop oturup hop kalkıyoruz, bir sağa bir sola selam veriyoruz. Bunun arka planında gerçek bir hissiyatımızın bulunmayışı var. Duygusal sığlık diyebileceğimiz bir hadise var. Sevginin ne demek olduğunu bilmiyoruz, özgürlüğün ne demek olduğunu bilmiyoruz. Üç yıl savaşmış bir askerin köyüne döndüğü zamanki özgürlük hissiyatıyla bizim özgürlük zannettiğimiz şey arasında dağlar kadar fark var. Televizyonda aşk cinayetinden bahsediliyor. Böyle bir şey, böyle bir kavramsallaştırma olamaz. Aşkın ne olduğunu bilmiyoruz. Daha derinde saygının ne olduğunu bilmiyoruz. Gerçek aşk aşktan çok saygıya dair bir şey. Bu anlaşılamadığı için düşünüşümüz yanlış yönde ilerliyor.

On extreme respect

In 2004, Sabancı High School choir was singing the Tenth Anniversary March during the Teachers' Day program in Marmaris. Meanwhile, the majority stood up, but the 7th president Kenan Evren, who settled in Marmaris after his retirement, listened to the march from his seat. He then said the following to the people in the hall:

"I did not stand up because the Tenth Anniversary March is not the National Anthem, you cannot stand up."

Thereupon, some of those who had just stood up turned and applauded Evren Pasha. Some of them had just stood up because everyone else had.

This is an example of our lack of real thinking. We don't really think, we mostly adapt. For this reason, we sit down and stand up, greeting left and greeting right. The main reason is that we do not have a real feeling. There is a phenomenon that we can call emotional shallowness. We don't know what is love, we don't know what is freedom... There is a huge difference between the feeling of freedom when a soldier returns to his village after having fought for three years, and what we think of as freedom. In Turkiye, there is a definiton as "love murder". There cannot be such a conceptualization. We don't know what love is; deep down we don't know what respect is. True love is respect than love. Because this is not understood, our thinking moves in the wrong direction. Today, a hedonistic, an Aristipposian understanding is becoming widespread. Making love... Actually, this is a very dangerous thing.
