Building a city or a civilization

Last month's popular argument was a project of the Republican People's Party, about building a new city in Anatolia. The "Merkez Türkiye" aims building a central logistics base [1]. But culture, education and ecology have neglected in the project. It does not even mention.

The correlation between income and humanity is not strong. We have to handle both together. Our exports can increase, the value of our Lira can increase... But which project will increase the value that we give each other? We should work on this. The cities are shaping our souls, so we should create better environments, with all its meanings. If we realize, we cannot say economy comes first and then the others. Environment or culture...

So, which project can increase the value that we give each other? We neglect this, we don't have a vision...

In 2009, we had a proposal about building a rational city from scratch [2]. We started with that: Our workplaces, residences, environments have negative conditions. People living in metropoles have traffic costs, such as wasted time, stress and air pollution. That can be the the economic reason of building a rational city from scratch.

Geçen ay en fazla tartışılan konulardan birisi CHP’nin seçim vaadi olarak Anadolu'da yeni bir şehir kurma projesiydi. "Merkez Türkiye adlı bu proje bir lojistik üssü kurulmasını öngörüyor[1]. Burada maalesef kültür, eğitim ve ekoloji öncelenmiyor. Hatta bunlardan bahsetmiyor. 

Gelir artışıyla insaniliğin artışı arasında yeterli korelasyon yok. İkisini beraber ele almalıyız. Tabii ki ihracatımız artsın, Türk Lirasının değeri artsın. Peki, hangi siyasal proje insan olarak birbirimize verdiğimiz değeri arttıracak? Bunu araştırmalıyız. Yaşadığımız şehirler ruhlarımıza şekil veriyorsa ki, veriyor… O halde biz bütün anlamlarıyla “çevreyi” özenle oluşturmak zorundayız. Bunu tespit edebiliyorsak önce ekonomi sonra kültür; önce ekonomi sonra çevre de diyemeyiz. 

Hangi siyasal proje insan olarak birbirimize verdiğimiz değeri arttıracak? Bu ihmal edildiği için küresel bir çöküş yaşanıyor. Batı’da da, bizde de insaniliğin arttırılmasına yönelik yeterli bir politika yok.
